North Sikkim – The Soul of the Himalayas

Tucked away in the embrace of the Eastern Himalayas, North Sikkim is a realm of untamed beauty, where nature paints with snow, flowers, and silence. It is a land where the roads wind through misty forests and rivers whisper ancient stories. Here, at dizzying heights, lies the sacred Gurudongmar Lake, shimmering under the vast blue sky like a mirror to the heavens.

Best places to visit in North Sikkim----:

Gurudongmar Lake – A Sacred Jewel of North Sikkim                                                            Gurudongmar Lake, located in North Sikkim at an altitude of about 17,800 feet, is one of the highest lakes in the world. Surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, the lake holds immense spiritual significance for both Buddhists and Sikhs. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava blessed the lake, and a part of it never freezes—even in the harshest winters. The lake’s turquoise waters and serene environment create a magical, almost surreal atmosphere.

Yumthang Valley – Known as the "Valley of Flowers"                                                        Yumthang Valley, located in North Sikkim at an altitude of around 3,500 meters, is famously known as the "Valley of Flowers". It is a breathtaking alpine valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains and carpeted with vibrant rhododendrons, especially during spring (March to May). The valley is also home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, with over 24 species of rhododendron flowers. In winter, Yumthang transforms into a snow-covered wonderland, offering a different kind of beauty altogether.

Zero Point (Yume Samdong)                                                                                   Zero Point, also known as Yume Samdong, is a remote and breathtaking destination in North Sikkim, located at an altitude of about 15,300 feet (4,700 meters). It is called "Zero Point" because it's the last accessible point for civilians—beyond this lies the Indo-China border. Surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks and vast icy stretches, Zero Point offers a surreal landscape, especially in winter and early spring, when the entire area is blanketed in snow.

Lachung                                                                                                                          Lachung is a charming mountain village nestled in North Sikkim, at an altitude of about 2,700 meters. It is known for its lush green meadows, snow-covered landscapes, and blooming rhododendrons in spring. The valley is perfect for photography, short hikes, and peaceful nature walks.                                              Thangu Valley                                                                                                    Thangu Valley is situated at around 13,000 feet (4,000 meters), Thangu Valley lies en route to Gurudongmar Lake, near the village of Lachen.
